Tony Dawes

Director and Interim Chairman

Mr Dawes is an experienced developer and company director with more than 10 years’ experience in the mining industry. In addition, he has interested in water technology, software development and the agricultural sector.

Mr Dawes was a seed investor in Carabella Resources in 2010 and was involved in the fundraising in the Pre-IPO capital raising for the start of the development program.

At about the same time he was involved in the re capitalisation of a medium sized copper mine in Chile. As an investor and as a director he was directly involved for over 5 years in the development of the Clara Vista operation in the Atacama and was involved in the expansion of the operation including expanded heap leach pads and a new electro-winning plant.

He has experience as an executive director and then as Managing Director of an exploration company focussed on gold in the central highlands of Papua New Guinea He was involved in the planning and then approvals at government level for the funding, acquisition and approvals of operation in three areas.

Most recently he has been involved as a director in a company focussing on licensing innovative water technology to Australia and with development of agricultural opportunities in far north Queensland, including with management software. He is also involved in bringing a mining management software suite to market.

Mr Dawes is currently a consultant to a Canadian Pension Fund, PSP, advising on Agricultural acquisitions, in Queensland and New South Wales.

David Begley

Managing Director

Mr Begley has more than 30 years’ experience in the mining industry both in senior executive roles and in supporting boards and executive teams in project and operations startups and business transformation. His experience has been gained across hard rock, including gold, copper, nickel, and coal operations in additions to supporting infrastructure. He has experience both in public companies and private.

Most recently, he was appointed Development Manager of Queensland Pacific Metals (a public listed company), responsible to the Managing Director for all infrastructure and approvals for a major battery chemicals processing facility to be constructed in the Townsville region. His role encompassed rail, port and road, land acquisition, native title negotiations and community corporate relations. In addition, he coordinated all non-technical aspects of the pre-feasibility study

Prior roles included the start-up and float of Carabella Resources firstly as the EGM Development and later as COO reporting to the Board. He was a member of the Board of North Queensland Coal Terminals, a JV Company with Peabody, Anglo American and New Hope, set up to bid for coal terminal infrastructure.

Mr Begley’s previous experience consulting to the industry for almost 18 years was focussed on organisational and operation start up as well as business improvement across the mining sector. He consulted directly to Boards and to senior executive teams for the conduction of planning and management systems development and refinement. His major clients included, Xstrata, now Glencore, BHP Iron Ore, Rio Tinto Coal, Placer Dome, Wesfarmers Resources and Caltex. He led the organisational start-up of two significant mines and was involved in the planning and start-up of two others.

James Henderson

Director

Mr Henderson has over 35 years’ experience in providing financial advisory services in Australia and overseas across a wide range of industries including mining, medical devices, aged care, clean energy and natural resources.

He specialises in providing advice to emerging companies relating to corporate transactions and strategies, including corporate advice, financial and corporate structuring, capital raisings and commercial negotiations.

Mr Henderson has significant international experience in the development of resources projects. He has been involved in diverse gold and precious metals start-ups in West Africa experience as well as lime processing. His highly successful capital raising on international markets in the mining sector include Oklo Resources, Cheetah Resources and West Africa Lime Corporation.

Mr Henderson is a Director of Vital Metals, the first North American producer of rare earths.

Mr Henderson is currently the Executive Chairman of Transocean Securities. the Company he founded in 1987. Prior to Transocean, he was National Chairman at Sotherton’s Chartered Accountants in Western Australia specialising in taxation, accountancy and corporate structures. Mr Henderson is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Lara Iacusso

Chief Financial Officer

Ms Iacusso has over 25 years’ experience in providing financial advisory services in Australia and overseas across a wide range of industries.

She specialises in providing advice to emerging companies relating to corporate transactions and strategies, including due diligence, corporate advice, financial structuring, feasibility studies, capital raisings and commercial negotiations

Ms Iacusso has specific expertise in managing corporate transactions, including sale mandates, stock exchange listings and capital raisings. She has a strong technical and commercial background. She was previously a Partner of Deloitte Corporate Finance.

Ms Iacusso is a Chartered Accountant and Senior Fellow of FINSIA.

Peter Gregory

Principal Geologist

  • Ph.D. – James Cook University (Genesis of Mt Molloy and Diane Besshi-style volcanogenic deposits, Hodgkinson Province)

Peter has over 30 years’ experience in project generation, appraisal, management and discovery from grassroots to feasibility. He has a strong discovery history in base metals and coal with multi commodity experience in Australia and overseas including base metals, gold, copper-gold, magmatic copper-nickel-PGE, coal, and bauxite. As the Principal Geologist, Peter has a good working knowledge of Australian geology, terranes and tectonic evolution especially the Proterozoic and Palaeozoic terrains of Central and Eastern Australia. Peter specialises in IOCG, BHT, VHMS, SEDEX, porphyry copper-gold, magmatic copper-nickel, epithermal and IRG deposits, coal in Bowen, Galilee and Surat Basins. He also has experience in the management of and evaluation of coal, base metals and gold projects and open file and GIS syntheses and targeting.  

Some of Peter’s skills include project planning and management, detailed and regional mapping, GIS-based data analysis, seismic interpretation, project due diligence and open file assessments, project and tenure generation, geotechnical studies in coal and base metals, and independent geologist reports  

Mr Gregory worked in the general region for BHP Minerals in the middle1990s, but later 
recognised the potential for Jinchuan-type/Norilsk-type Cu-Ni-PGE mineralisation under 
cover of the Laura Basin in particular, which culminated in tenure applications in 2001 to 
cover the perceived main magnetic features of interest. 

Angus Hornabrook

Exploration Manager

Mr Hornabrook is a geologist with over 25 years’ experience in the planning, supervision and management of exploration programs from reconnaissance investigation through to resource evaluation. He excels in the design and implementation of practical and cost-effective exploration programs. Angus has worked on gold, silver, iron ore, uranium and phosphate element deposits throughout Australia with most of these projects in the eastern states of Australia. 

He also has extensive experience with the design and implementation of mapping programs, the development of assay and sampling programs, as well as the management of reconnaissance field programs. Angus also has extensive experience in the designing and implementation of drilling programs.

Mr Hornabrook has a high-level expertise in volcanogenic and magmatic uranium (U, Mo) deposits and rollfront and calcrete hosted uranium (U) deposits including in targeting IOCGU systems in SA. His expertise also covers high and low sulphidation epithermal gold and silver (Au, Ag) deposits. His recent greenfields success was the discovery of the Paris epithermal silver deposit (IVR-ASX) and surrounding prospects in South Australia. 

His experience also includes exploration of greenstone gold and mesothermal gold (Au, Cu, Pb, Zn) deposits in WA and QLD. His expertise also includes the identification of favourable host rocks, terrane selection and the development of targeting criteria.

Mr Hornabrook was involved in the initial work that identified the potential of the Laura Project region and prepared the initial exploration reports in 2019/ 2020.
